Police seek yellow-coated bank robber

A Monday morning bank robbery in Portola Valley has both the FBI and San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office on the hunt for a suspect in a yellow coat.

A man entered the Chase Bank on the 3100 block of Alpine Road at about 9:15 a.m. Monday, approached a bank teller and said he was armed before demanding money, according to the FBI.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Witnesses described the suspect as white, between the ages of 40 and 45, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds, according to the FBI.

He has brown hair and a mustache and was wearing a yellow bicycle jacket and a white baseball cap, according to the FBI.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the FBI and Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information can call the FBI at (415) 553-7400 or the Sheriff’s Office at 363-4051.
