Arrests made in road rage incident

A Pacifica man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting several men with a knife after a road rage incident at a Woodside gas station Monday, according to the county Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 5:54 p.m. Monday, June 28, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fight between a group of approximately seven men in the parking lot of the Shell Station located at 1667 Woodside Road.

When the deputies arrived, they found several young men who reported that they had been assaulted by a man with a knife. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late 30s with numerous tattoos.

The victims were apparently involved in some type of road rage incident previous to this assault. The victims pulled into the gas station and were followed by the suspect. The suspect got out of his vehicle and threatened several of the occupants of the victim’s vehicle with a knife, according to police. The suspect then punched one of the victims with his fists. The suspect also threw a cell phone at the victim’s vehicle which caused damage to the vehicle. The suspect fled in a black Volkswagen Jetta driven by a white female.

A countywide be on the lookout was initiated and the suspect vehicle was spotted by Pacifica Police Department and stopped. The suspect was identified as Marcus Alan Stewart, 39 years old of Pacifica. The driver was identified as Stewart’s girlfriend, Danielle Yvette Clewett, 42 years old, also a Pacifica resident.

Stewart was arrested and booked in to the Maguire Correctional Facility for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Vandalism and an outstanding traffic warrant. Stewart’s bail is $55, 000.00

Clewett was arrested and booked in to the Maguire Correctional Facility for accessory to the assault and for possession of a methamphetamine pipe which was found on her person. Clewett was released on her own recognizance.

The victim sustained injuries as a result of the assault however he declined medical treatment.
